Enshrouded is built around a world your group shapes together. A dedicated server keeps that world available when the usual host is offline, so friends can build, explore and progress on their own schedules without one gaming PC running all night.

GHosting gives the server a fixed address in Europe or North America and manages the Linux container, Steam download, Windows compatibility layer and service process around it. You get the live console, settings, file access and update controls in one panel.

Why Enshrouded needs real resources

Keen Games documents roughly 4.4 GB of physical RAM at idle and recommends a six-core, 16 GB machine for four to six active players. The game is also sensitive to CPU contention: under-sized or overloaded hosts are where players report rubber-banding and server-load warnings.

Current role passwords and world settings

Each new server gets separate, randomly generated Friend and Admin passwords, encrypted in the database and available to the owner in Settings. Share the Friend password with players; the Admin password grants kick, ban and Flame Altar permissions. Applying panel settings preserves bans, extra roles and custom settings outside the panel.

You can select the official Default, Relaxed, Hard or Survival preset, or choose Custom to tune resource yield, experience, enemy count, enemy and boss strength, durability, hunger, voice and text chat. Settings are validated before the server restarts, avoiding the malformed JSON that often breaks hand-managed servers.

Updates, saves and connection details

Enshrouded currently publishes its dedicated server as Steam app 2278520 for Windows only. GHosting installs that official build through SteamCMD and runs it through Wine. The panel checks the installed Steam build and provides an update action when a client patch causes a version mismatch.

Current server builds use one configurable UDP query port. The platform reserves and proxies it automatically. Before a managed update, GHosting stops the server and creates a local world-and-config archive in gh-backups. Keep an off-host copy through SFTP and remove older archives when you no longer need them.

Bringing an existing Embervale across

A world that started on someone's PC does not have to be abandoned. Enshrouded keeps the save in the server savegame directory, so uploading those files through the Files tab and restarting brings the map, bases and Flame Altar progress onto the hosted server.

Take a copy before you overwrite anything, and do the swap while the server is stopped. Enshrouded writes to the save on shutdown, so replacing files under a running server is the one reliable way to lose progress.

Regions and flexible billing

Pick Europe or North America based on where most of your group plays. Enshrouded is more sensitive to a congested host than to raw distance, which is why the plans start at 8 GB rather than squeezing a world onto the documented minimum.

Choose pay once or optional automatic renewal. A pay-once server stops at the end of its term, while a subscription renews for the amount and cadence accepted at checkout until you cancel. Renew inside the seven-day grace window and the same world comes straight back. Past that the server is deleted, so download the save if you are pausing until the next content patch.
