Guides for your Satisfactory server

About Satisfactory server hosting

The factory does not belong to one player anymore

A player-hosted Satisfactory session vanishes when its host leaves. That works for one evening and becomes the group's bottleneck as soon as one person wants to finish the rail line while somebody else is offline. A dedicated server gives the factory its own address and schedule, so progress belongs to the group rather than the person who started the save.

GHosting installs Coffee Stain's official native Linux dedicated server in an isolated container in Europe or North America. The process, networking and updates are managed from the dashboard, while the world stays in a separate data path that Steam validation does not replace.

Claim it from the Server Manager

A new Satisfactory server starts unclaimed by design. Copy the address and port from the dashboard, open Server Manager inside the game, select Add Server and connect. The first player claims it, chooses the server name and administrator password, then creates a session. Those identity and world choices stay in Satisfactory's supported interface rather than being duplicated as fragile text fields in a hosting panel.

Steam and Epic Games Store players can share the same current PC server. After the claim, invite another trusted player as an administrator through the game if they also need access to save management and server options.

The current ports, not the old tutorial ports

Satisfactory changed its networking in 1.1. The main allocated port now carries TCP, UDP and the HTTPS management API. The next port carries reliable TCP messaging, and a server behind address translation needs to advertise that external reliable port explicitly. GHosting reserves the pair, forwards both and checks all three listeners before an installation is called ready.

That is why old instructions built around ports 15000 and 15777 should not be copied into a current firewall. Every server gets its own consecutive pair inside the host's reserved game range, with no router setup on the customer side.

Move the factory through Manage Saves

You do not have to abandon a player-hosted factory. Claim the hosted server, open its Manage Saves tab in Satisfactory and upload the .sav file from the existing session. The server validates the upload and can load it directly, which is safer than moving files into a hidden Linux directory and hoping the session metadata matches.

Take one local copy before the move, stop building while the source save is being made, and check player inventories and the session name after the first load. Keep that original until everybody has joined the hosted copy successfully.

Size for the simulation you are building

Coffee Stain recommends 8 GB as the minimum dedicated-server memory and 16 GB for larger saves or groups beyond four players. A late-game factory can be limited by a busy simulation thread before it exhausts memory, so player count alone is a poor sizing rule. Trains, drones, belts and a large active production graph all matter.

  • 8 GB Pioneer: a fresh factory and a small group
  • 12 GB Engineer: a growing late-game world with more working room
  • 16 GB Director: a large established factory or group above four

Updates and stops that respect the save

The dashboard compares the installed server build with Steam's public branch and updates the runtime in place when you choose Force update. The dedicated HOME directory holds saves, server identity and configuration outside the replaceable Steam package.

Before a managed stop or restart, GHosting asks the local Satisfactory HTTPS API to save the active session and waits before sending the graceful interrupt signal. Automatic game saves still matter, but the shutdown path does not assume that killing a healthy process is the same thing as preserving a factory.

Regions, and what prepaid actually means

Choose Europe or North America based on where most pioneers play. Satisfactory is not a twitch shooter, but construction feedback, vehicles and player movement all feel better when the server is close to the group.

Terms are prepaid and nothing renews on its own. When a term ends the server stops and your files are kept while you decide. Renew inside the seven-day grace window and the same claimed server and factory return; past that the server is deleted, so download the current save before a long break. Your first server is covered by a 72-hour money-back guarantee.

Satisfactory hosting FAQ

How do I claim a new Satisfactory server?

Copy the address from your GHosting dashboard, open Satisfactory's Server Manager, choose Add Server, and enter that address and port. The first player claims the unclaimed server, sets its name and administrator password, then creates a new session or uploads an existing save from the Manage Saves tab.

Can Steam and Epic Games Store players join the same server?

Yes. The official Satisfactory dedicated server supports PC players from Steam and Epic Games Store in one world. Everyone needs a compatible current game build.

Can I upload an existing Satisfactory save?

Yes. Claim the server in the in-game Server Manager, open Manage Saves and upload the .sav file from your existing session. This is the officially supported transfer path and avoids guessing at hidden Linux save folders.

Which ports does a current Satisfactory server use?

Current 1.1-era servers use the main allocated port for TCP, UDP and the HTTPS management API, plus the next TCP port for reliable messaging. GHosting reserves and forwards both automatically. Old guides that prescribe 15000 or 15777 describe an obsolete layout.

Does GHosting install Satisfactory mods?

Not as a managed feature. Coffee Stain's official dedicated-server workflow does not provide a server-side mod catalog, so GHosting launches the official unmodified Linux build and does not promise compatibility with third-party mod loaders.

How much RAM do I need for a Satisfactory server?

Coffee Stain recommends 8 GB as the minimum for a dedicated server and 16 GB for larger saves or more than four players. Pioneer fits a fresh small factory, Engineer adds room for a growing late-game world, and Director is the safer choice for a large established factory. Satisfactory can become CPU-heavy as the simulation grows, so RAM is not the only limit.

Is Satisfactory server hosting available now?

Yes. Pick a plan and region and we install the current official native Linux server from Steam. When it is ready, add the dashboard address in Satisfactory's Server Manager, claim it, set the administrator password and create or upload your factory.

Do I need to know Linux to run a server?

No. GHosting gives you a clean control panel for starting, stopping, configuring and viewing the live console. We handle the Linux side for you.

Where are the servers located?

In datacenters in Europe and North America. Pick the region closest to your players for the lowest latency. DDoS protection is included.
