How the V3 Sandbox Code works

The first letter identifies the format. Every three-letter block after it names one setting and its selected value. Settings that still use the engine default are omitted, which is why a valid code can be one letter, 19 letters, or much longer.

Paste the bare result into a hosting panel's Sandbox Code field, or copy the XML property into the <ServerSettings> section of serverconfig.xml. Restart the dedicated server after saving. Keep the previous code and a world backup before a major balance change.

Need the background first? Read the plain-language Sandbox Code guide.

Use it on a managed 7 Days to Die server

GHosting installs the server, reserves all three required ports, and gives you Sandbox Code, map, PvP, player-limit, file, console, and restart controls in one panel.

Sandbox Code questions

Does this upload my Sandbox Code?

No. Decoding and generation run entirely in your browser. The code is placed in the URL only when you choose to share it.

Which 7 Days to Die versions does this support?

The editor targets the V3.1 stable sandbox schema. If a future code includes unfamiliar blocks, the editor loads the settings it understands and preserves the other blocks unchanged with a warning.

Why can a valid Sandbox Code be longer than 19 letters?

The 19-letter value in the default server config is only the Adventurer preset. A code contains one three-letter block for each setting that differs from the engine defaults, so valid custom codes have different lengths.

How do I install the generated code on a dedicated server?

Copy the XML property into the ServerSettings section of serverconfig.xml, or paste the bare code into your hosting panel Sandbox Code field, then restart the server.

Does changing a code erase an existing world?

No. It changes the gameplay rules loaded for that world. Keep a backup and the old code before a large balance change so you can roll back easily.
