Free Hytale Server Trial: Current Release, No Card
Hytale dedicated hosting has more moving parts than an ordinary Java game server. The server needs Java 25, an authenticated official archive, fresh provider session tokens, a reachable QUIC UDP port and the exact client-compatible game release. The free 48-hour Hytale server trial lets you test that complete path on a real managed server without a payment card, subscription or automatic renewal.

What the free Hytale trial includes
The trial uses the same isolated container, official server build and dashboard as a paid Hytale plan. The 4 GB Adventurer offer includes:
- 4 GB RAM, 2 vCPU and 20 GB NVMe storage.
- The official Java 25 dedicated server and authenticated game assets.
- A public QUIC endpoint on one allocated UDP port.
- Platform-managed provider authentication before every server start.
- Settings, a writable console, browser files, SFTP, mods and built-in backups.
- A choice of Europe or North America, subject to available trial capacity.
Which Hytale version does the trial run?
As checked on August 23, 2026, Hytale's official release metadata reports server version 0.5.9, published to the release feed on August 18. GHosting follows that official release target unless an operator deliberately pins a rollout. The panel compares the installed marker with the same release feed, so an available update is visible instead of being hidden behind a generic “latest” label.
That matters because Hytale requires exact client-server compatibility and remains on a fast Early Access cadence. Update 5 introduced the in-game Server Discovery system, and later hotfixes included important client security and server stability fixes. Read the first-party Update 5 notes, stable hotfix notes and current game-update feed before installing a release-sensitive mod.
Pre-release builds are not silently mixed into a normal trial. The release and pre-release patchlines can have different data directories and mod compatibility. The trial is designed to prove the current stable managed path, not use a live world as a test fixture for an unfinished patch.
Provider authentication is handled for you
A production Hytale provider does not paste a customer's personal credentials into a container. GHosting holds its provider refresh credential centrally, rotates it when the platform replaces it, creates short-lived server session and identity tokens before each launch, and gives only those short-lived values to the process. The long-lived credential is never exposed in Settings, Files, the console or an operation log.
This removes one of the most fragile parts of self-hosting from the trial. If the server starts, refreshes its session and accepts a player, you have tested the real authentication path that the paid server will keep using. The official provider authentication guide documents the upstream flow.
QUIC means the UDP test matters
Hytale uses QUIC on one UDP port. A TCP port checker can therefore report nothing useful even while the server is healthy. The managed container binds the allocated port on all interfaces and exposes it through the host's kernel NAT path. During the trial, join using the exact address from the dashboard and test from the same region and client build your group expects to use.
Direct connection and Server Discovery are different checks. A server can accept the public address without appearing in the in-game directory. Discovery requires a server profile, correct metadata, policy compliance and review through the Hytale account page. The trial does not claim or submit a public listing for you. The official Server Discovery announcement explains that boundary.
Settings worth testing in 48 hours
- Maximum view radius. The default is 12 chunks. Increasing it can consume substantially more RAM as players explore independently.
- Adventure or Creative. Choose the default before the first group session so the new world starts with the intended mode.
- Player limit and password. Use the real group size and test both an invited player and the public address.
- Backup frequency. Hytale's built-in backups run every 15 to 180 minutes; the managed default is 30.
- Uploaded mods. Place compatible JAR or ZIP mods in
Server/mods, restart and inspect the console for version failures.
A 4 GB Adventurer server is appropriate for a small group at a sensible view radius. It is not a promise that 100 players, a 32-chunk radius or a heavy mod pack will fit. The Hytale server requirements guide explains when 6 GB or 8 GB is the honest starting point.
Updates preserve the world and configuration
When you run a managed update, GHosting replaces only the official binaries and
assets. It preserves Server/config.json, worlds, mods, backups, logs,
permissions, bans and the whitelist. Configuration writes also disable Hytale's own
automatic apply mode, preventing two independent update systems from racing each other.
That does not make every mod safe across releases. Back up first, update the server and client together, then test a fresh world with mods disabled if an old world stops loading. Our Hytale update guide and backup guide cover that recovery path.
No card and no surprise charge
Starting the trial does not open Stripe Checkout. After 48 hours the server stops and nothing is charged. Trial data remains for three days, giving you time to continue or download the world and configuration.
Can I keep the same Hytale world?
Yes. Choose a paid term during the retention window and the same container resumes. The universe data, settings, mods, backups, files and public address stay in place. The trial is the first two days of the same server, not a disposable demo that must be rebuilt.
How to start the Hytale trial
- Open the Hytale server hosting page.
- Choose a region and select Start free trial.
- Create an account and verify your email address.
- Return to the hosting page, start the trial, then add the Hytale server from the dashboard.
Each verified account can claim one trial per eligible game. A rolling network allowance, global slot limit and paying-customer capacity reserve keep the offer usable for real groups.
